It's Halloween! and what better way to spend this season is to try this gluten free and dairy free Paleo Chocolate Pumpkin Brownies with Arrowroot powder.



  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 3/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 8 oz. semisweet copped chocolate
  • 1 egg room temperature
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Pumpkin puree

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie mix)
  • 4 Tbsp arrowroot powder
  • 3 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 Tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1 Tbsp pumpkin spice
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt


  1. Preheat oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line 8x8 or 9x9 inch square pan with parchment, then lightly spray or grease with coconut oil, set aside.


  1. Add the chopped chocolate to a large glass bowl, microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir. Microwave for an additional 1 minute.
  2. Stir in almond butter, cocoa powder, and coconut sugar until smooth.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract and eggs.
  4. Pour into prepared pan and smooth.

Pumpkin puree

  1. In a small bowl combine all ingredient and stir to combine. Make sure arrowroot is blended in completely.
  2. Pour pumpkin puree on top of the chocolate mix and smooth.
  3. Bake for 33-35 minutes or until the brownies are set in the center, taking care not to overbake.
  4. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 45 minutes before removing and slicing.
