Also known as the Matricaria recutita, Chamomile Flowers are one of the safest, most popular natural botanicals available, because it grows in location around the world, it has a myriad of internal and external uses. Chamomile flowers promote a healthy lifestyle, in its powder form, it can be infused into shampoo, this promotes a healthy hair which smells wonderful. Some people may add the powder form into bath water to soothe and calm through aromatherapy. Because of its sedative properties, it is commonly used to make fresh and organic Chamomile tea.

RECIPE

Chamomile Flowers can be used in several recipes, among them is make them delectable and aromatic Chamomile muffins.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cassava flour
  • 1/2 cup of fat of choice (lard, butter, or coconut oil, melted and cooled slightly)
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup chamomile, dried
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup collagen
  • 3 eggs room temperature
  • 1 Tbs vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda (sifted)
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat first the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, and line muffins cup pan with squares of torn parchment paper, or muffin cup liners, and set aside.
  2. Combine in the blender eggs, water, chamomile, fat of choice, honey, and vanilla, and blend on medium speed for 30 seconds.
  3. Sift together cassava flour, collagen, baking soda and sea salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the blender and puree for 5-8 seconds, scrape down sides with a rubber spatula and puree again for an additional 5-8 seconds, until dry ingredients are fully incorporated.
  5. Fill lined muffin pan with the batter, garnish the top of the batter with 1/2-1 teaspoon whole chamomile flowers per muffin.
  6. Bake until toothpick inserted into the center of one comes out clean, about 25 minutes.
  7. Serve it with butter and honey, or you may also serve it with cream cheese, and enjoy your muffins!
